Key Objective To support VP of Tax Strategy in developing and managing Pearsons tax strategy and managing UK corporate tax compliance activities. Key responsibilities Driving a step-change in tax support all UK business units and enabling functions including building strong relationships with senior UK stakeholders to become a trusted business partner. Managing tax forecasting globally including responsibility for the Group ETR model, Cash Tax model and other forecasting requirements. Managing the UK corporate tax compliance process including responsibility for two tax managers. Key contact for HMRC with responsibility for managing any UK corporate tax audits and correspondence with HMRC. Lead the UK year-end tax reporting process working with local finance teams as required. Perform technical assessment of new UK tax laws & regulations and monitoring the position on an ongoing basis. Lead the preparation of R&D claims, collaborating with the relevant business units and finance teams as required. Maintain an internal professional tax organisation by developing experts in key tax areas. Working effectively with other sub-teams in the tax function as required to implement global tax initiatives. Proactively identify, manage and mitigate group tax risks. Qualifications University degree and relevant professional qualification (accounting, tax or legal). Extensive UK tax experience gained in an in-house tax role. Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
