Purpose and objectives of the role You will have responsibility for the payroll compliance and advisory service lines of our business. Main duties and responsibilities Updating and maintaining client payroll records Liaising with clients to ascertain payroll information Managing our outsourcing partner to ensure timely and accurate delivery of service Releasing payroll reports to clients and ensuring that correct and timely payments reports and returns are made to HM Revenue and Customs ('HMRC'), workplace pension schemes and other statutory bodies Managing a small pool of Sage payroll clients, including: - Processing the payroll and pensions, ensuring that they are correct - Making timely payments reports and returns are made to HMRC, occupational pension schemes and other statutory bodies Establishing payroll schemes on behalf of clients, including setting up pension relevant workplace pension schemes Dealing with both client and HMRC queries and escalating as appropriate Assisting clients to satisfy the necessary records to maintain under Construction Industry Scheme ('CIS') Processing CIS reports ensuring that they are correct Making timely CIS submissions and payments to HMRC Identifying and communicating the payroll implications of current and proposed legislation and determine the most appropriate method of implementing changes Presenting client with updates on relevant legislative and process changes Providing internal teams with relevant client payroll information Helping clients migrate to cloud-based payroll and rota software Providing clients with ongoing support and training on cloud-based payroll and rota software Testing new digital payroll and rota applications Provide clients with advice on bespoke remuneration packages Appropriation, approvals and submissions of forms P11Ds Assisting and supporting the professional team in delivering outstanding client service Work effectively in a diverse business within an inclusive culture where people are recognised for their contribution Your professional experience and skills At least three years' experience of working in a payroll role, preferably in a professional services environment Methodical and highly organised working skills Keen attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to deal effectively with issues in person and by telephone Desire to be flexible and proactive in suggesting ideas for streamlining the processes Track record of implementing and/or applying standardised procedures and protocols to improve efficiency Demonstrable skill in managing key stakeholders' expectations and consistently delivering to the highest standards Using initiative to identify appropriate solutions to problems Ability to work independently and manage own workload Strong team working skills Calm, efficient and resilient under pressure Capable of meeting challenging/demanding and competing deadlines High degree of IT literacy including Microsoft Office programmes.
