Job Description Are you looking for an exciting finance leadership role in the UK's largest listed software and technology business? Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for a Finance Director with a strong commercially background to lead our UKI business from our Newcastle head office. This role will have you at the heart of Sage's journey to transform itself into a great SaaS business, and forms part of our UKI Executive leadership team. The UKI is Sage's 'home-turf' so this is going to be a big challenge for the right person. There is so much more to this role, so please reach out for more information and a confidential chat. LI-FM1 Key Responsibilities We are looking to recruit a Finance Director to be part of the local executive team; to be a trusted financial advisor to the senior executives and deliver quality financial support for the business. This role will require the individual to:
• Form a strong partnership with the UKI Managing Director and their leadership team. A trusted advisor and hands on partner to support and challenge the business to achieve maximum results
• Effectively use financial information to provide the business with better insight into business performance and trajectory and opportunities for growth
• Drive optimisation of P&L performance and manage to Sage financial metrics
• Lead improvements in delivering business predictability through a robust forecasting and review framework
• Ensure high quality and consistent financial reporting to the business and the Sage Group
• Support the business in developing and executing on an effective business strategy; and in the planning and budgeting process
• Enhance finance capability through effective management and coaching of the existing business partnering and performance reporting teams and identify opportunities to optimise the team's effectiveness
• Build and review business cases and ensure that the right commercial decisions are made for the Sage Group
• Help build a resourcing framework and focus on placing investment towards areas with the highest propensity for growth and profitability; help develop sales metrics which clearly identify productivity opportunities
• Play an active role in driving for change and continuous improvement in the business and within finance; identify areas that require improvement and look to disrupt
• Collaborate effectively with other functional finance leaders to ensure that financial processes are running effectively and that the country meets internal Sage governance and also external compliance guidelines; play a role in bringing together the local finance team across all pillars
• Play a key collaborative and active role as a member of the Sage Finance Business Partnering team across all regions and Global Commercial Finance team
• Director for the local legal entities Skills, know-how and experience Must have:
• Experience at Senior Director or VP level in commercial finance roles in the technology sector
• Commercially aware with proven ability to identify and drive strategy
• Able to partner with and influence senior non-finance business execs
• Capability to operate effectively in a matrixed environment
• Excellent communication and people engagement skills
• Proactive and solution focused with strong attention to detail
• Demonstrable ability to act as a business advisor
• Strong people management skills; making people engagement and career growth a top priority
• Able to deal with ambiguity where required
• Comfortable at operating in a high growth and fast paced environment
• Strong intellect and attention to detail
• Resilience and ability to operate in a changing business environment Preferred:
• Expertise in financial modelling (strong Excel skills required) and some experience in investment appraisal
• Experience in software related business specifically in revenue growth & pricing Technical / professional qualifications:
• Degree
• Qualified Accountant, or equivalent degree preferred Key stakeholders:
• UKI MD and Senior Exec team
• Shared Services Function
• Global and Functional Finance Teams Direct reports: Local business partners and performance reporting teams
