Corporate Tax Manager/Senior Manager The Corporate Tax Manager/Senior Manager will manage the effective completion and delivery of corporate tax work for designated clients. The successful candidate will share their extensive technical tax expertise to enable the effective and profitable management of all aspects of allocated tax work. In addition, the Tax Manager/Senior Manager will expand on their own technical, commercial and management skills to support Directors and Partners. This role would be available on a full or part time basis. This role can be based in the Aberdeen, Inverurie. Huntly, Elgin or Fraserburgh office The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to): Manage, develop, train and motivate the tax team on behalf of the directors and partners, delivering tax compliance services and ad hoc tax advisory support for the allocated clients Maintain a detailed knowledge of technical matters Complete complex tax assignments with a high degree of autonomy and accuracy Reviewing tax returns and computations to ensure their accuracy and to identify areas of tax efficiencies and opportunities for our clients Liaising with clients - in particular being the first point of contact for the tax compliance process, attending planning meetings etc Scheduling compliance work and taking responsibility for managing the process from planning through to submission of tax computations and returns Co-ordinating tax payments and quarterly instalment calculations Consideration of utilisation of losses, capital allowances, group relief and other claims Awareness of international tax issues (such as double tax relief claims, treatment of foreign branches, transfer pricing requirements, controlled foreign company disclosures etc). Provision of high level technical and tax planning advice to clients, working as necessary with Senior Managers, Director and Partners Involvement in written negotiations on HMRC enquiries Oral and written communication with HMRC ensuring compliance with the relevant statutory requirements Monitoring tax compliance and monthly deadlines by using tax administration software, keeping internal control records up to date and ensuring compliance with quality control procedures Liaising with the client service team and with colleagues in the Audit and Accounting disciplines to provide a co-ordinated service to the client Playing an active part in the business development activities of the office, and supporting less experienced colleagues to do the same Line management, mentoring and training of junior staff Ensuring compliance with internal (tax methodology and risk management) and external (regulatory) requirements The successful candidate will also have a good working knowledge of accounting standards and UK tax legislation. Project and time management skills are essential and will be required to ensure smooth delivery of deadlines and budgets. They will be confident in client-facing situations and be IT literate. Previous experience in supervising a team is beneficial for this role. The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years' corporation tax experience with some working knowledge of other taxes and practical experience of using software systems in the preparation of company tax returns. They will have qualified in CTA, CA, ATT, or an equivalent qualification, with evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
