An excellent opportunity has arisen with a growing business near Newport who are recruiting for a high calibre Cost Accountant. The company have developed innovative services and products and are anticipating continued growth over the coming years. The Cost Accountant reports to the Financial Controller with the primary aim being the development and maintenance of controls for inventory, product costing, revenue and margin analysis and assisting in the production of the management accounts pack. Cost Accountant duties: Reconciliation and valuation of inventory, work in progress, consignment and finished goods, both material and labour content. Reconciliation and valuation of cost of sales generated in each month. Develop and maintain integrity of the stock records to ensure accurate reporting of stock and the cost of sales incurred at month end. Developing and maintaining a cost accounting system. Calculation of all product costing information. Making estimates of new and proposed product costs. Analysing actual manufacturing costs and preparing reports comparing standard to actual costs. Calculation and review of stock. To create budgets and improve transactional accuracy, create Operational Expenditure reporting. Posting of and ensuring all revenue and cost of sales is accounted for correctly. Cost Accountant person specification: Strong costing background and excellent analytical skills with a sound understanding of accounting principles. Part or fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA). Advanced Excel skills. Experience working with engineering and manufacturing environment essential. Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports. Reliable, proactive and able to work to deadlines. Speed, accuracy, problem solving skills, attention to detail and able to work independently. Excellent people and communication skills. Applicants will have demonstrable experience working in a similar role, ideally in a product-led business. This role has been created at an exciting time of the company's history. As well as the salary there are 25 days annual leave, contributory pension and private health plan. Due to location applicants will have access to their own vehicle. Premises are within easy commute of Newport, Bristol and south East Wales.
