Commercial Accountant Section Manager - Bracknell - Permanent - £48,000 car Exceptional opportunity for a qualified commercial accountant to join the European Commercial Finance team of this global brand at an exciting time of business change and development. Supporting the Financial Controller, this role focuses on providing specialist financial support to the European business in all commercial activities . In summary, you will take ownership of the Actual results and Budget and planning process for head office submissions; be responsible for providing objective European Business Divisions financial support; drive best practice, projects, efficiencies, change and strategy through all Branches & SSC; mentor the Management Accountant and check their work. Main Responsibilities of the Commercial Accountant include : 1. Ownership of the Actual results and Budget and planning process for regional submissions - Ownership for delivering accurate monthly P&Ls, analysing variances against budget and having specific responsibility for the accuracy of the monthly actual; management of the accounting and variance analysis and technical guidance - Full ownership of the approval process (month-end journals, reconciliations, etc.) after the initial preparation of the PP & MC statements - Present monthly P&L results to Financial Controller, Head of Finance, as well as relevant Business Division staff members explaining key variances to budget, highlighting any risks and opportunities - Coordinate & prepare quarterly budgets & 3year Mid Term Plans - Responsible for specific monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations (as well as relevant SOX and audit input), highlighting any exposure, and review with Financial Controller 2. Responsible for providing objective European Business Divisions financial support - Provide informed financial understanding and cost/profitability detail on Business results indicating where improvements could be made - Provide insight and support of the financial impacts of all commercial business decisions taken by the Business Division, including Sales/Production planning; Promotional Campaign planning; Pricing planning; Branch Profitability and KPI measurement - Carry out adhoc reporting and analysis from statistical and financial information when required using system tools 3. Drive best practice, project, efficiencies, change and strategy through all Branches & SSC - Act as a finance change agent on business projects - Be the key financial link between finance staff in Europe, and the Business Division - Work closely with the European Branches, supporting strategy, budget and system understanding and implementation - Drive the development, understanding and use of dedicated system tools as a reporting and budgeting tool within the Business Division and the Branches 4. Line management responsibilities of Management Accountant - Play an active role in coaching and mentoring Management Accountant - Review and sign off on their work - Promote their involvement in projects and Business Divisions operations Qualifications, skills and experience required/desirable: - Qualified Accountant (CIMA / ACCA or equivalent). - IFRS accounting knowledge preferred - SAP, Excel and Oracle high level knowledge is a must - Previous experience of working in a European environment preferred - A technically able accountant, with a good understanding of business in general, with commercial awareness and experience - Well-developed level of communication, networking and presentation skills - Ability to work in a constantly changing environment and under time pressure - A proactive and pre-emptive approach to matters; a naturally curious and questioning manner; the ability and desire to dig in and work hard to achieve time-critical tasks, where required. - £48k excellent benefits including car
