Purpose of this role: To deliver an effective and efficient service for the financial assessment of applications to the Derbyshire Discretionary Fund. Key relationships: Applicants External partners and agencies Regular liaison with support workers and social care professionals Line managed by Team Manager (Derbyshire Discretionary Fund) Key result areas include: 1. Undertake thorough and consistent financial assessments of applications to the Derbyshire Discretionary Fund in line with departmental policies and guidance. 2. Assist in the administration process of successful applications to ensure prompt and accurate awards/payments are made. In this respect the accurate and timely maintenance of payments systems will be required. 3. To ensure that applicants' records are maintained in an effective manner. 1. To provide advice and information to regarding the DDF process to applicants, their representatives and to staff, to assist with the delivery of an effective service. 1. To liaise with professionals and colleagues from external agencies to gather information, convey decisions, and build wider understanding of the work of the Discretionary Fund. 1. Have an awareness of national welfare benefits legislation and procedures 1. Maintain an up to date knowledge of the local "wider provision" that might be appropriately available to applicants. 1. Assist in the briefing/training of staff in other teams/departments about the scope and work of the Derbyshire Discretionary Fund. Experience 1. Broad administration or finance 2. Liaising with external agencies 3. Effective team working 4. Dealing with members of the public with sensitivity and tact 5. Decision making in complex but well-structured framework. Skills and knowledge 1. Using information technology systems for data recording 2. Excellent numeracy skills 3. Able to work to strict deadlines 4. Time management/prioritisation 5. Data protection requirements
