This is an exciting paid internship programme focused on investments and specialist advice in Coutts. You'll gain insight into the world of private banking and be perfectly placed to join our graduate programme the following year. About the business area With over 325 years of history, Coutts has defined the private banking sector. We combine our expertise and experience building relationships with our clients to provide a world-class service. From private investments, to financial and specialist advice we deal with the needs of varied and extraordinary clients. We understand the intricacies of high net worth individuals and their families, and support their ambitions during the breadth of their journey with us. About the programme The aim of this 10 week internship is to give you a taste of what it's like to work in Coutts, and to help you build useful skills for your future career. We'll introduce you to how financial markets work at a high level, including portfolio management and construction. You'll start developing a deep understanding of the specialist advice and services we provide, including trust and estate planning, philanthropy, wealth succession and protection. We'll reward you with a salary of £21,500 pro rata, depending on location. The programme starts with an induction, where you'll learn about Coutts and RBS, meet your fellow interns, and get the chance to talk with colleagues from around our business. You'll then begin a unique 10 week placement, where you'll attend workshops, get involved with the day to day work in one of our investment and specialist teams, and take part in a business project. For this you'll complete research on a topic and come up with recommendations for improvement or change to support our ambitions. During the programme, you'll also work on a corporate social responsibility challenge. This'll help you to develop keys skills; team working, planning, creative thinking, business plan writing and problem solving - all while contributing to a valuable cause. For the full 10 weeks, we'll pair you with a line manager and buddy, who'll help you develop your network and provide guidance and support. At the end of the placement, we'll assess you on what you've learned. Complete this successfully and we'll offer you a place on our 2021 Private Banking Asset Management graduate programme, where you'll carry the skills you've learned forward and take the next step in your career.
