Macquarie Group is a global provider of banking, financial, advisory, investment and funds management services. At Macquarie we offer you the experience and freedom to grow your career whilst making your mark within a highly successful organisation. Key to our success is the entrepreneurialism we encourage in all our people. We give you the opportunity to progress your career as quickly as you can demonstrate your ability. Macquarie's business is structured into six operating groups and five support groups. The Risk Management Group is an independent, centralised unit responsible for assessing and monitoring risks across the Macquarie Group. This includes market and liquidity risk, credit risk, compliance risk and operational risk. Risk Management Group personnel liaise closely with all operating areas to ensure risks are understood and properly managed. These, together with a strong, committed team are key drivers of Macquarie's success. Macquarie's various businesses have interests in non-financial assets globally which create operational, legal, workplace health and safety (WHS / OH&S) and construction-related responsibilities for Macquarie in those assets. In this newly created role within our Risk Management Group, you will establish centralised in-house construction risk expertise and provide advisory services to our business groups, management teams and Board, in relation to Macquarie's non-financial assets globally. Your key responsibilities will include producing and maintaining Macquarie's construction risk framework whilst consulting with all operating areas to ensure construction risks are understood and properly managed. You'll need to coordinate business reporting to the Board, influencing change and acting as a liaison between the Board and the businesses to ensure construction risk items escalated are reported with full context including action plans. The role will see you assessing construction risk responsibilities in existing projects and developing risk assessments when investing in new projects which involve construction risks. You'll review EPC, O&M and other contracts to ensure terms and risk allocation is appropriate. You'll offer your opinion on quality of contractors selected and on the capex and other technical assumptions within financial models as well as continue to provide general project development and technical advisory to other teams within Risk Management Group. To succeed in this role, you will be a highly experienced construction or engineering professional in either an internal or external advisory capacity or in a broader operations role, ideally with exposure to renewable energy, conventional energy and/or infrastructure. You will be able to demonstrate strong strategic, technical and multi-national construction expertise supported by appropriate tertiary qualifications. You'll possess a proven ability to succeed in a complex stakeholder environment, with strong relationship building and influencing skills and the ability to drive change. The role will require to travel both domestically and internationally as required so flexibility to travel is essential. As such the location of this role is flexible and due to the extensive travel globally required to complete field audits and work with asset manager teams.
