Heyland Recruitment have been instructed by our client, a successful service-based subsidiary of a large international group as they seek to employ a Qualified Commercial Finance Manager. Reporting to the Finance Director and managing a small finance team, the Finance Manager will take full responsibility of all financial reporting, managing the finance department, ensuring that all staff undertake their duties in compliance with company policies and procedures at all times. Responsibilities include: To manage the Finance Department to deliver financial reports, robust budgets and forecasting, commercial tenders costings, proactive analysis and financial support and guidance in line with Company Policies, Regulatory Standards and Statutory guidelines, deadlines and requirements. To manage the day to day performance of the department in delivering periodic management, financial, regulatory and statutory accounts and financial returns in an efficient, effective and robust manner. To comply with all legal requirements related to the safe and efficient running of the department. Improving the impact, and understanding, of financial reporting on business performance Providing analysis and delivering insight that links financial reports to business strategies Providing effective commercial procedures, or initiating change, to ensure key operational, commercial and financial targets are delivered Building partnerships and maintaining strong relationships with all senior managers and their teams To provide financial analysis, information and support as required by management. To deliver efficient, effective and robust financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial control systems and processes. Assisting management in the preparation of robust annual capital and operating expenditure forecasts, including analysing and appraising budgeted costs, understanding key cost drivers, identifying trends, risks, opportunities etc. for each Budget and forecast cycle Delivering robust costings for tenders/ contracts and ongoing analysis of all tenders / contracts To deliver financial and tax data and to complete transactions by the appropriate deadlines. In addition to the duties listed above, carry out other duties assigned by the Finance Director from time to time. To Communicate, Consult, Inform and Develop Employees as required by Company Policy and Employment Law. Regularly communicating with your staff, peers and others, ensuring their understanding of company objectives and aspirations as well as other information. Managing your own performance and the performance of all employees who report to you in a positive, constructive and proactive manner. Developing and supporting the development of future leaders for your business, department or function. Ensuring your personal skills and the skill base for all employees under your control is continually maintained and updated as required. Ensuring there is adequate competent cover for all roles. Proactively managing any cost centres you are responsible for, ensuring appropriate but challenging budgets are set and achieved. Ensuring cost-consciousness at all times in the execution of your responsibilities. Maintaining excellent relationships with internal and/or external customer and delivering to their expectations. Ensuring professional advice is sought where appropriate. Maintaining an awareness and understanding of the environment in which the business operates and responding appropriately. The ideal candidate will be an ACA, ACCA, CIMA Qualified Finance Manager who has previous experience of managing a small team within an SME business. The successful candidate will be a commercially focused finance professional who can contribute towards the strategic direction of the business. You will have a strong background in budgeting and forecasts as well as having previous experience of stakeholder management.
