This is an exciting opportunity to join our client as a Accounts Payable Lead/Manager based in Sutton Start date: ASAP Hours: 35 hours Mon to Fri (09:00:AM - 05:00:PM)

Salary:
£19.96 PH PAYE TEMP 3 Months Managing a team of 11 Accounts Payable Officers to deliver the Accounts Payable function across our client, with a single point of contact for the client and Suppliers, internal/external customers. Responsible for the prompt and correct payment to suppliers of within agreed terms and to maximise cash flow. Ensure compliance with statutory regulations (e.g. VAT and sub-contractor taxation, Employment Rights Act and Consumer Protection Acts) impacting upon the day-day operation of the function. To provide training and briefing sessions to colleagues both internal and external to ensure they are able to impart information to customers. Responsible for operational oversight: ensure items presented for payment are properly authorised in accordance with Financial Regulations, Policies and Procedures; ensure accurate cost classification/coding of purchase orders, and invoices, ensure queries to the accounts payable team are dealt with in an efficient and courteous manner;. Systems: contributing to IT and other developments that impact on the procurement and accounts payable process Undertakes complaint investigations in accordance with the council's corporate procedure Liaises with Internal & External Auditors on all aspects of the audit of Accounts Payable providing explanation and information as required. Assisting in the development and implementation of action plans to address any issues arising from Internal or External Audit Reports. Anti- Fraud: overseeing implementation and effective operation of anti-fraud controls; raising anti-fraud awareness within the accounts payable team. To work with the Head of Finance Operations and Resident Support in developing and implementing the work programmes for the team and set up appropriate governance frameworks where required. To develop business cases for and improvements to the services, working with customers, other service areas, partners and suppliers. To liaise with colleagues in Finance Engagement & Advise for support in the design and delivery of communication and engagement initiatives. Ensure the highest standard of customer care is given to all customers/suppliers served by the Council, and that high quality advice and information is provided. Communicates clearly with colleagues and customers, ensuring that internal and external customers are able to participate in consultation and two-way communications by communicating with the right people in a timely and appropriate way.
