An international shipping line with offices in central Southampton are recruiting a senior finance role to work alongside the Finance Manager. The exposure you will receive could suit someone keen to progress their finance career with an international company, or a seasoned finance professional who enjoys a rounded, busy and commercially focused role. You should be Qualified or on that journey. The Role You will be no.2 to the Finance Manager, taking on as much of the financial and management accounting as possible to release the Finance Manager to focus more on strategic/transformation work. The role is broad, tasks will include: Margin/cost/revenue analysis and associated monthly reporting and narrative Budget/Forecast/Financial planning and analysis on variances between actual/forecast/historical performance Take a leading role in creating budgets Helping to identify process improvement opportunities. There are a high volume of transactions and opportunities to dial out errors and create efficiencies through process improvement Balance sheet and general ledger reconciliation work Other financial accounting tasks, such as VAT, Corporation tax, pre-payments and accruals The Ideal Candidate This role would suit someone who is a finance professional who thrives in an extremely busy environment. Working within logistics tests your capability as it is such a fast environment but at the same time is extremely rewarding for the right person. If you're to thrive in this role you should enjoy switching between the proactive and reactive, be able to cope with (and enjoy) high volumes of varied work, enjoy working as part of an international company and be very down to earth and hands on. In terms of qualification, the ideal will be qualified or on this path, but this is not essential for someone who has the right experience.
