Job Introduction Skipton Building Society is one of the UK's largest building societies, with a real hub of opportunity at Head office in Skipton. If you have experience of working within an Accounting or Finance related function and want to take that next step in your career, then this is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, proactive Finance team for a 12 month secondment. We are looking for an exceptional Senior Financial Accountant to assist the Financial Controller in the monthly management accounts production, statutory and regulatory reporting Main Responsibilities Reporting to the Financial Controller your role will be to support the Financial Accounts team in the delivery of monthly management accounts, half yearly and yearly statutory accounts, Regulatory Returns and full reconciliation of the Balance sheet. You will also be promoting and representing Financial Control in regards to internal projects and supporting the automation transformation plan for the department. This is a busy role with time pressures and deadlines, so balancing conflicting priorities will be part of your day-to-day role. You'll ensure that work is error free and delivered within specified timescales or negotiate where necessary. A key component of the role will be your ability to take a pro-active approach, challenging the status quo. You will be expected to devise creative solutions focusing on continuous improvement in order to drive through decisions to improve business performance. Ideal Candidate You will be supporting the team to deliver the departments automation transformation developing ideas to further improve processes/controls.We are looking for someone who has worked within an accounting role within the industry or is making their first move from practice. - Strong technical skill-set. - The ability to understand and complete complex numerical and financial calculations. - Strong interpersonal skills to maintain strong working relationships at all levels. - A motivated and driven approach would be advantageous to succeed in the role as you will be continually seeking to improve ways of working and be willing to challenge and question the 'norm'. - You will have experience in planning and organising your own workload to ensure there is a focus on priorities to achieve deadlines. - Attention to detail is essential as you will have to make sure all yours and the teams work is accurate.
