As the Møller Institute thrives, we are looking to appoint an Assistant Head of Finance to maximise and adapt our commercial systems to meet the changing needs of the business. Working at an operational level and deputising for the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for supporting with the day to day running of the Finance function, including; the production of the monthly management accounts; the accurate recording of all financial transactions, overseeing the purchase and sales ledger, monitoring the cash flow across the business as well as the credit and stock control. Responsibilities of the Assistant Head of finance: To report and provide timely financial information to the CEO and Management team to enable the Møller Institute to be successfully managed. To assist with the operation of the finance function and process/monitor income and expenditure for he effective operation of the business. Deputise for the Head of Finance as required. Monitor the cash flow position in line with the strategic investment programme. ensure that all-financial transactions are recorded accurately to show a true and fair view of the business. provide a financial service to managers to assist them with cost control and also highlight any areas of heavy cost spending within a specific period. provide the monthly Management accounts against budget for each department. Supply detailed information on the accounting performance for discussion at the Management team meetings. support the Head of Finance in the preparation of the financial materials for the Board of Directors meetings. maintain and control the cash flow position of the business and provide a schedule showing when the planned investment purchases can be bought. provide a service and point of contact for client billing queries and supplier information. At year-end, provide the Auditors with the necessary schedules and final annual accounts for the completion of the Statutory Company Audit to take place during August. Prepare the annual budget, with the Head of Finance. The Budget is approved by the Board of Directors. carry out credit searches on new business clients and to take up any necessary trade references. oversee the reconciliation of the weekly billing cleardown system with the cash and credit card payments taken and the input the sales invoices for the period. operate and maintain the credit control procedure by carefully monitoring debtor accounts and chasing late payers. provide information on client turnover, on agreed KPi's, market sector business, repeat business levels and other performance indicators for sales analysis. ensure all purchase invoices are authorised and PO procedure has been followed. oversee the Purchase Ledger input and to agree the date for payment to suppliers. update the Fixed Asset Register, record the monthly depreciation and produce the NBV for each asset. accrue for all costs that have been associated with a specific period where no invoice has been received. handle Company pension scheme applications and processes. assist with annual appraisals of the Finance Team. prepare the VAT return quarterly Requirements of the Assistant Head of Finance: A qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) and a strong team player, you will be involved in budgeting and monitoring the efficient operation of the business in liaison with the executive education and operational team. Ambition to progress, financial capability and exceptional IT skills are critical to the success of this role together with the ability to build strong relationships through regular engagement with the various stakeholder groups. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential and you will be calm under pressure and have fun working within a team. The ability to prioritise is crucial to meet audit requirements and reporting deadlines. You will be a dynamic and engaging individual, with a commercial, "can do" mind-set, who can help to implement procedural change. As such you will have experience in the effective use of Financial IT systems and the production of management accounts in a business context.
