JOB DESCRIPTION Change Public Practice are working with a leading independent Chartered Accountancy firm in Edinburgh to assist them in the hire of a Part-Qualified Accounts Assistant. This leading Scottish independent CA firm have a strong reputation in the market with third sector clients and they have ambitious growth plans for the future. This role will allow you the chance to work within a well-established Business Advisory team to support management but also offer you the chance to progress within the team to Senior Accounts Assistant / Accounts Senior.

Responsibilities:

• Provide support to Managers and senior employees through a varied role which includes preparation of management accounts, VAT returns and statutory financial statements
• Preparation of monthly and quarterly VAT returns
• Preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts
• Planning annual work including setting budgets and fee quotes
• Preparation of statutory financial statements for clients records maintained on Sage, Xero etc.
• Providing analytical review of the figures in the accounts
• Proofing accounts and ensuring statutory disclosures are accurate
• Provide a complete pack to managers for review which includes letter to client, final accounts and a list of queries etc.
• Preparation of fee notes to be issued to the client
• Providing training for clients on accounting software, including Sage and Xero
• Active involvement in the business advisory plan which could include renewing new accounting software / add-ins, renewing internal processes
• Assisting junior members of the team including being actively involved in their training and development Requirements:
• Must be a Part-Qualified Accountant i.e. ACCA / ICAS
• Minimum of 18 months' experience working within Practice
• Strong background in accounts preparation is essential
• Ability to manage own workload as well as junior members of staff
• Good organisational skills
