Role Purpose:Northern Trust Asset Management has an immediate opening for a Global Head of Sustainable Investing within the Strategic Product Group Unit. The key objective of the role is to lead the expansion of our US$90bn Sustainable Investing platform. Reporting to the Director of Product Development, the head of Sustainable Investing key role is to lead the sustainable investing platform and global teams with responsibility for oversight of sustainable investing strategies across asset classes. The head of Sustainable Investing is expected to have a strong expertise and specific knowledge about the dominant ESG issues across industries and asset classes. He/she will be responsible to drive thought leadership, strategy-level messaging and lead product management efforts. The head of Sustainable Investing is expected to work seamlessly and collaboratively with portfolio managers, strategists, research teams, marketing teams and the product management functions. In addition, the position is a highly visible one, both within the Northern Trust organization and in the broader investment community, and thus the head of sustainable investing is expected to be an effective "ambassador" of the group.Some of the core responsibilities include:
• Lead all aspects of our evolving sustainable investing offering, including product development, innovation, thought leadership, and client engagement across market segments
• Represent Northern Trust SI platform at internal and external functions such as client meetings, events and ESG conferences.
• Provide thought leadership for content relating to sustainable investing, including presentation material, articles and training.
• Support and develop tools for the effective integration of ESG analysis into our stock/bond selection and valuation process across asset classes
• Develop consistent reporting approach for sustainable strategies and portfolios.
• Review and engage ESG data providers.
• Monitor and work with engagement service provider and proxy agents.
• Participate in Proxy Committee and work to refine policies to incorporate key sustainable themes.
