Your new role Our commercial teams are growing in line with our capital spend which is expected to double in the next five years and so we have an exciting opportunity for as Assistant Commercial Manager to join our embedded regional team. Reporting to the Commercial Manager you will be responsible for providing commercial support within a Major Projects capital programme - the Regional Investment Programme (RIP). Working closely with your team and project teams you will provide advise on contract administration, cost capture, analysis and performance ensuring the needs of Highways England are protected and compliance is met. This is a great opportunity to join Highways England, as well as being a major client investing £11bn across the strategic road network between 2015 - 2020, we offer exposure to civil engineering projects that are connecting communities, sustaining business and support the economy. What you'll be leading on Working on specific projects under leadership of senior/commercial manager providing commercial support to internal clients across a range of activities, aiding decision making on commercial efficiencies, provision of advice on contract administration, cost capture, analysis, performance, related intelligence and opportunities for performance improvement Identifying complex problems trends and variances from data sets in order to undertake analysis and engage relevant stakeholders to review options and make decisions for moving forward. Building effective relationships with suppliers and internal customers and develop thorough objectives for successful commercial delivery and sharing best practice in order to achieve a consistent approach for the organisation in line with the core values Ensuring the collection of robust, consistent and objective data, developing robust data capture processes in order to ensure that the correct information is stored, analysed and shared to support decision making Providing and facilitating specialist advice from across the organisation on commercial issues including cost intelligence and the benefits in order to act as a centre of excellence for unit costs and the benefits that the organisation can gleam from this To be successful You will hold a relevant technical qualification at degree level or similar Knowledge and experience of performance monitoring and reporting Knowledge of estimating and associated software Knowledge and experience of interpreting contracts Good analytical skills You will have the ability to work within and engage with a team with staff at all levels with difference technical understanding Working towards member level of a professional organisation such as RICS, ICES, CIPS or equivalent A bit about us The Regional Investment Programme (RIP) team are working across England to improve the network and release economic capacity faster than any other time in the last 50 years.
