Hays Accountancy & Finance are exclusively partnering with a growing and leading manufacturing SME based in Ledbury, Herefordshire to recruit for a dynamic and hands-on full-time or part-time Assistant Accountant. Reporting directly into the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks within the finance team, primarily related to the key area of sales invoicing and credit control, plus purchase ledger and management accounts processes. Your new role

Reporting into the Finance Manager your key duties will involve assisting in management accounting processes including inter-company account reconciliations, bank/balance sheet control schedules, time sheet collation, EC sales and intrastat returns and ad-hoc financial support. You will be involved in sales ledger processes such as creation/maintenance of accurate customer accounts into Sage, raise and enter sales invoices/credit notes for different revenue streams along with tracking of customer invoices and payments. You will be involved in purchase invoices and expense processing, raising and entering purchase invoices/orders and receipts along with posting to project/nominal ledger codes and inter-company invoices. You will support senior management in ad-hoc financial projects and duties such as supporting annual audit and the tax processes, annual stock count, weekly cash forecast and process improvement.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this varied Assistant Accountant position you will need experience within a similar role, with strong communication skills to build internal/external relationships and the ability to manage your own work-loads. You will be pro-active and hands-on with key MS Excel skills and used to working toward deadlines. Ideally you will be AAT qualified or studying your AAT/CIMA/ACCA, finance professionals qualified by experience, will be considered. It would be advantageous but not essential if you have experience of Sage 200 and have worked within the manufacturing sector.
