Job Description: Syndicate Financial AccountantCirca 55k base salaryAre you self-motivated and like to manage your own work? If so, read on.The Syndicate Finance team is responsible for a wide range of financial reporting for three Lloyd's Syndicates. It has twenty five staff based across our Colchester and London offices and is part of the wider group finance function. The primary output of the team is internal and external reporting including IFRS, UK GAAP, Solvency II and tax of our three Managed Syndicates (33, 3624 and 6104), Managing agent and corporate member. A multi-year finance transformation programme is currently underway at Hiscox which is creating a dynamic environment where many processes currently used are going to evolve in the coming year including a migration to a new Oracle General Ledger. This creates a lot of variation and opportunity in the role but to be involved in change you must be a swift learner, able to respond quickly to an evolving situation, and as an accountant you must love accuracy at all times A transformation programme of this scale leads to high exposure to the inner most workings of the business and there is opportunity to get involved and find better ways of working.The RoleReporting to the Syndicate Finance Manager, you will help produce the Financial Consolidation package for the corporate member, coordinate the regulatory reporting and prepare the Syndicate Report and Accounts.What you'll be doing:Produce the Financial Consolidation package (along with supporting schedules) for the corporate member, managing agent and syndicates in IFRS format;Production of annual and underwriting report and accounts for the three managed syndicates;Assist the external audit team be ensuring audit requests are fulfilled, together with providing any additional outputs which they require;Responsible for the review of the QMA & QMB, liaising with MI, Business Unit finance teams and FP&A to ensure accuracy of information, following up on any queries from Lloyd's and working with MI and Colchester finance to improve processes;Review account reconciliations for inclusion in the financial framework sign-off by the Syndicate Finance Manager;Prepare schedules for inclusion in the quarterly Reserving Committee and Audit Committee;Coordinate and review the Syndicate regulatory returns (QMA/QMB, Trust funds etc) by ensuring roles and responsibilities are clearly defined between the different staff in the Colchester office;Production of Lloyd's corporate member accounts and managing agent accounts;Aid in the development of systems and procedures to deliver timely Financial submissions to Lloyd's;Support the Syndicate Accounting function on ad hoc financial reporting projects including IFRS 17 and FCP. Person Specification: Our must havesChange is not a scary word to you. You thrive in organisations that constantly adapt and evolve;Be a qualified accountant having trained at a "Big 4" and be educated to degree level;Good IFRS technical knowledge and good regulatory understanding - specifically within insurance.Have excellent attention to detail and be able to maintain accuracy when producing work under deadlines;Have excellent IT skills with experience of using excel;Be able to manage a number of tasks and projects to different deadlines;You jump at the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues on projects;Our nice to havesExperience working in a Lloyd's Managing Agent and specifically worked on regulatory reporting;Why Hiscox?
