A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an for an individual looking to progress their career in the Southeast office of a rapidly growing national accountancy firm. The Payroll Officer will be responsible for supporting the Payroll Manager in the day to day management of the section and workflow, ensuring that all deadlines are met and that the section continues to function smoothly. They will manage and make sure all payroll processes, payments and all statutory policies are adhered, ensuring there is an effective and efficient payroll delivery. JOB SPECIFICATION: Main Responsibilities Support the processing of the Payroll for approx. 300 companies on a monthly, weekly and four-weekly basis Input and checking all aspects of Payroll processing (Starters, Leavers and completion of all appropriate tax forms, Variable data - e.g. bonus, advances, overtime, etc.) Knowledge and application of statutory and firm rules in relation to: CIS, SSP, SMP, SAP, SPP Ability to manually calculate PAYE and NI calculations when required Maintaining an understanding of current payroll legislation: RTI and Auto Enrolment Assist with preparing monthly payroll reconciliations and control reports Day to day liaison with clients - HR, employees, Partners, HMRC, Pension Provider, Season tickets, Childcare Vouchers, cycle to work etc. Liaising directly with clients to obtain missing information Establish and maintain good relationships with clients Ability to work to deadlines both statutory as well as client-imposed deadlines Other ad hoc duties as required Required Competencies Highly organised and good at planning their work Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to compute figures rapidly and accurately Flexible in the type of work they are prepared to do Efficient in time management Ability to work under pressure Ability to meet deadlines Maintain office ethics and confidentiality Good telephone manner Computer skills Good team working skills Ability to perform well without close supervision Knowledge of modern office practices and procedure Education and Training Excellent English and Mathematics are compulsory This is a role which will suit somebody who enjoys the variety offered by a general practice firm dealing with the requirements of owner managed businesses.
