Responsibilities:

• Carry out regular data input and processing to the asset register, ensuring that new assets, capital programme items, WIP, impairments, disposals and category maintenance are all up-to-date and accurate. Reconcile the Asset Register to the General Ledger figures each month.
• Run the monthly depreciation for all assets for all companies. Reconcile the figures in terms of the depreciation itself and the subsequent asset reporting.
• Produce the data for all of the VAT returns and draft the returns, for review by the Financial Controller. Annually, produce the Capital Goods Scheme computation and work with the Project Accountant to produce the TRAC-based Partial Exemption calculation. These adjustments are both needed for the January return.
• Support the Financial Controller in all areas of the year-end: processing adjustments, preparing schedules, ensuring that audit trails exist for all areas, documentation and reporting. Coordinate the Prepared by Client (PBC) list and ensure that all items are completed appropriately, preparing some of them.
• Within the Financial Control team, provide cover when necessary for the Financial Operations Manager
• Prepare monthly control account reconciliations for balance sheet control codes relating to financial accounting. Where reconciliations are prepared by other members of the team, share the task of reviewing as an independent check that the figures are correct.
• Accounting for finance and operating leases
• Production of KPIs, statistics and reports as required.
• Keep up-to-date with current accounting regulations, carry out research where necessary on the implication of new legislation. Be the go to technical person.
• Be an initial point of advice and information to managers and other colleagues in relation to accounting policies, requirements and protocols.
• Under guidance from the FC, prepare all required year end schedules and reports
