This internship will take place in Stevenage for the Telecoms area of Airbus Defence & Space. The nature of the role will allow the individual to be part of a fast paced organisation which designs and builds state of the art Telecommunication Satellites. The key mission of the project control role is to understand and communicate the financial health of several projects. The controller will work closely with the operational team advising on budget and forecast responsibilities, as well as acting as the financial interface between senior management and project managers. It is our role to be able to interpret financial figures into an operational view which steers the projects. As well as working autonomously, the controller will be part of a strong, experienced finance team, sharing best practice and using all available technology to find fast efficient solutions to various operational issues. Tasks During this internship, the activities you may undertake will include; Monthly financial reporting on numerous multi-million GBP projects Monthly cost reviews with key stakeholders to ensure project EACs are robust Ad hoc meeting attendance to advise and steer key project decisions Monthly presentation to Senior management of sales/cash & performance KPIs Regular risk & opportunity reviews Identify areas of weakness / operational failings and devise an appropriate solution to role out. Update & creation of operational tools to enhance the 'value added' provided by the department. Act as a key team player within finance - both nationally and trans-nationally to promote and encourage the operation teams the mindset of 'right first time' and the reduction of 'Non Quality'. Skills Ideally, the individual will have a degree focusing on Business Finance or accountancy The individual should have a high level of IT knowledge with advanced excel skills preferred. High levels of numeracy and attention to detail is required to present key financial information to a variety of stakeholders. Behaviourally the individual will need to work individually as well as be a strong member of a project and departmental team. The intern would ideally be a confident communicator and strong listener. Knowledge of operational finance within a large organisation would be an advantage. Past experience of working alongside non-financiers and having the ability to accurately communicate financial detail. An interest in the Space industry would be an advantage.
