Swindon (Polaris house campus) with regular travel to London UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is a non-departmental public body, bringing together the seven Research Councils, Innovate UK, and Research England; and is tasked by the UK government with investing over £7 billion a year to push back the frontiers of knowledge and understanding so we can improve economic performance and support society to be enriched, healthy, resilient and sustainable. Principally funded by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), UKRI has c7,500 employees and is currently seeking an exceptional Chief Finance Officer (CFO) to help the Board set its strategic vision and support the delivery of a new target operating model. Reporting into the CEO, you will provide advice on a broad range of complex public and private sector finance and commercial matters. You will develop the capabilities and capacity of a broad range of UKRI's corporate services including finance, risk and assurance, legal, procurement & commercial services, estates and Health & Safety, Your responsibilities will include: Working closely with the parent department, UKRI Board and senior executives to drive Driving the annual financial planning, budgeting and reporting cycle Making decisions on complex multi £m investment decisions Working closely with the Transformation Director to oversee the delivery of programmes to improve and simplify the organisation's digital and transactional services (including acting as SRO for a multi-year service and systems renewal programme for the HR and Finance ERP To succeed, you must be a professionally qualified accountant with a strong track record in strategic planning, influencing major business decisions and driving significant change within a large, complex organisation. You will be an exceptional communicator, able to influence, challenge and establish relationships at all levels; with significant commercial acumen and business knowledge. You will be an inspiring, strong and visible leader; with a passion for ensuring world-leading research and innovation continues to flourish in the UK.
