DS Smith is seeking a Finance Analyst to work across their Sheet Plants. You will act as a first point of contact to the relevant Regional General Manager and site leads to help maximise the profitability of the cluster by providing timely, relevant and insightful information to facilitate the continual improvement of operational efficiency, available capacity and service levels. Working closely with the Commercial Finance Business Partner, you will ensure that suitable financial controls and processes are in place, sufficient and adhered to consistently across the cluster. You will work with the sector finance team, site teams and the Shared Service Centre to ensure that working capital is actively managed and improved and the month end, budget and forecasting cycles are managed accurately and to schedule. What the role will entail
• Provide clear information and insight to help maximise volume and profit growth
• Lead the development of cluster wide customer/product trend analysis to highlight potential profit improvement actions and assist in driving these through at the relevant sites
• Assist the cluster in maintaining strong cost controls - e.g. overtime reporting, labour recs, workflow issues, GRIR management
• Ensure Cost Models are fully implemented, updated and reconciled regularly at all sites
• Development and preparation of operational efficiency reports. Work with IT to build data into Navigator / other centralised databases
• Support the Regional GM to prepare capex proposals/business cases
• Focus on innovation - identify new ways of collecting/analysing data to help improve understanding and decision making
• Preparation of relevant and accurate analysis for forecasts and budgets
• Initial full P&L reviews for month end process, clearly highlighting any issues and improving processes so that they're not repeated
• Work directly with SSC to get accurate month end accounts in place by the given deadlines in order for timely CFBP review
• Ensure that all financial controls are consistently implemented across all sites - work together with local site management to monitor adherence and effectiveness and improve where possible
• Assist CFBP in improving working capital management with a specific focus on debt and stock control The desired candidate will have the following
• A highly motivated Qualified Accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA)
• Strong understanding of financial management and reporting
• Strong understanding of effective financial controls and processes and their implementation and ongoing governance
• Advanced MS Excel skills with the ability to quickly pick up new IT systems
• A strong team player who is able to work collaboratively as well as autonomously
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with both financial and non-financial colleagues
• A detailed and analytical approach to all elements of work
