You will already have heard of Comic Relief, or, our campaign brands, Red Nose Day and Sport Relief. Over the last few decades, together these have raised over a £1bn for those who need it most at home and abroad. We are looking for a dedicated and driven Financial Accountant to provide high quality support to the Finance Team in provision of an efficient and effective financial accounting service for the organisation. It's an exciting time to join Comic Relief as we draw towards another campaign night in March and we will soon welcome a new Chief Executive steering the organisation to more success in an ever changing and challenging environment. Reporting to the Head of Financial Control, this is a key position responsible for the integrity of the the General Ledger systems and processes. In addition, the role supports Comic Relief's finance team in decision making for compliance with HMRC and statutory reporting. Your key responsibilities will include: Ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting system and associated reporting package, maintaining the chart of accounts and liaising with software suppliers to lead updates and upgrades; Leading on the preparation of the annual report and accounts for Charity Projects (aka Comic Relief) and subsidiary entities; Being responsible for the preparation of the VAT return in line with making tax digital ensuring accounting records are up to date and accurate; Development of the relationship with the wider finance team and communicating complex and contentiously complex information to managers, budget holders and staff across the organisation; The successful candidate must be a professionally qualified accountant with robust technical skills from the Charity, Commercial or wider Public Sector. You will be highly organised, meticulous and driven. We are looking for someone who is proactive, dynamic with a positive, solution orientated and fun approach.
