The objective of the financial accountant role is to provide accounting support for statutory and monthly reporting working across the entire business. This role will provide opportunities to gain broad and valuable experience within the finance function of a fast-paced growth business. The role will challenge the breadth of the candidate's competencies ranging from technical skills to softer communication skills.

They are the largest provider of care and education services to children in the UK and operate in a c£15bn p.a. UK social care sector with high growth segment and favourable demographics with increased outsourcing of care.

Description

The key responsibilities for this financial accountant role are:

• To take responsibility for certain balance sheet reconciliations as directed by the Group Accountant/Group Financial Controller ensuring these are high quality and produced on a timely basis.

• To have sole responsibility for intercompany reconciliation and monthly processing of internal rents for the business

• To assume responsibility for all aspects of the Group's fixed asset accounting and ensure the integrity of fixed asset records.
• To assume responsibility for the hire purchase reconciliation

• To assist with the preparation of statutory accounts for the Group, taking responsibility for certain notes as directed by the Group Accountant

• To assist the with the project management of half year, quarterly and year-end external audit processes.
• To provide ad hoc assistance to the Group Financial Controller, Group Accountant and Head of Management Accounts.

Profile

The successful candidate must be:

• Part qualified/finalist (ACCA/CIMA) accountant or qualified by experience

• A demonstrable track record of success at assistant accountant / accountant level

• Experience in accounting and balance sheet reconciliations

• Excellent System skills including Excel.

• Self-starter with the ability to identify issues and use initiative to solve problems.

• Strong organisational skills with ability to meet strict deadlines.

• Exercise the upmost discretion when dealing with confidential information.

• Team player with willingness to help others and go above and beyond their formal role.
