Job Details

Do you want to learn more about finance in a large multinational technology company?  Do you enjoy analysing and interpreting data, business partnering and working with senior stakeholders? Do you want to progress with a career in finance and gain professional qualifications?

The Ocado finance graduate programme is designed to support you in becoming a finance leader of tomorrow. Over the course of the three year programme you will have the opportunity to grow your understanding of finance through exposure to the key areas of a fast-paced, dynamic finance department as you complete placements around the team. The series of one year placements will be across a variety of areas in the Ocado finance team including: Operations, Central, Technology and Group Finance.

As a guide, your graduate programme could look like:

  • 1st year – In your first year you will build in-depth knowledge of Ocado, the finance team and its systems. Typical finance placements are in Ocado Logistics, Logistics Development and Group Finance. You will also work on projects to help further build your knowledge at Ocado, working with senior members of the finance team.
  • 2nd year – You will develop your finance skills further by rotating into a different finance team such as Financial Reporting, FP&A or Central Finance. Your second year role will allow you to showcase and apply the skills you have learnt from your first year at Ocado. The roles are designed to further support and enhance your accounting, reporting, analysis and business partnering skills.
  • 3rd year – A typical role will be supporting Technology, Solutions or Ocado Logistics, working closely with senior stakeholders within finance and with various departments across Ocado. The third year placements are designed to stretch you that little bit further!

Ocado will support and sponsor your finance qualification for either ACCA or CIMA, ensuring you gain the skills you need to accelerate your career at Ocado. In addition, there will also be an array of learning & development opportunities available to all graduates, from negotiation training courses to presentation skills workshops. You’ll have sufficient study time for you to succeed in your exams in addition to your holiday allowance. All graduates are given a mentor to help support and guide them during the Ocado graduate scheme.

Applicants must have the right to live and work in the United Kingdom for the duration of the programme. We are unable to sponsor visas for overseas applicants for this programme

Working at Ocado Group

Graduates are an important part of teams across the Ocado Group and play an important role in developing and growing our business. Applications for our schemes are welcome from graduates of every discipline and each application will be judged on its merits. Candidates will take part in a screening process involving online testing, a video interview and an assessment centre.

Our schemes vary in length but all graduates are recruited on a permanent contract of 40 hours per week. We expect our graduates to be willing to be mobile as part of their schemes. We aim to be as flexible and accommodating as possible and we welcome your questions and queries.

Our Application Process

Applications to our schemes open on Monday 23rd September and should be made through the Ocado.jobs website, due to high volumes of applications our vacancy close dates are subject to change and our suggestion would be to apply as soon as possible. Following online applications, candidates may be invited to complete a series of online tests and a video assessment. Applicants who successfully complete these will be invited to attend an assessment centre at our Ocado central office in Hatfield. Assessment centres will be held in November and February and successful candidates will be invited to begin their roles from 7th September 2020.

Company

Our know-how and technology is at the core of our business.

To build our pioneering online shopping and fulfilment business model, we had to design our own proprietary solutions from scratch: there was no blueprint to follow; no off-the-shelf solution to buy.

Ocado at a glance

Ocado was established in the UK over 16 years ago and listed on the London Stock Exchange in July 2010. We are the world’s largest dedicated online grocery retailer with over 580,000 active customers shopping with us today. Our objective is to provide our customers with the best shopping experience in terms of service, range and price, which builds a strong business and delivers long term value for our shareholders.

We have developed a unique end-to-end operating solution for online grocery retail based on proprietary technology and IP, suitable for operating our own business and those of our commercial partners.

The world is changing fast, driven by different shopping habits and ever more advanced technology for the consumer. Grocery is the largest of all retail segments and is moving online. Moreover, the rapid growth of shopping using mobile devices opens new opportunities. We are well positioned to take advantage of these long-term structural trends for the benefit of our customers, partners and shareholders.
