Ensuring strong governance and successfully managing risk are at the heart of policing. The role of the Joint Audit Committee is to review these arrangements on behalf of the Chief Constable, and the Police and Crime Commissioner, and to provide assurance that the highest standards are being maintained.
Kent Police is rated one of the best performing forces in the country, as can be seen by HMIC’s recent inspection.
The Joint Audit committee is currently seeking a new member and we are looking for applications from people who have:
- Understanding of risk control in both the strategic and operational context
- Experience of applying and working within effective internal controls
- Understanding of and demonstrable commitment to the Nolan Principles
- High-level experience of scrutinising financial information & processes
- Willingness to give the time commitment (including reading, preparation time and ad hoc meetings).
- Experience of operating at a senior level in a complex organisation with a variety of stakeholder interests.
Knowledge of public sector finances and their scrutiny, and audit processes would be an asset.
In addition, applications from those with particular experience in strategic HR or IT would be particularly welcome.
The Committee meets five times a year. Members will be paid a daily rate of £211.50 (half rate for half days).
Please note, this role requires a level of vetting and interviews will be held on the 30th October
