We are a care home group operating 10 care homes, employing over 600 staff in Greater London. Our homes are registered to provide high quality of care to residents needing dementia care, intermediate care, re-ablement services and day care. Our group is currently undertaking an innovative project - expanding the existing Care Home into a Care Village comprising a Care Home, Independent Living Apartments and an onsite Medical Centre. Due to existing growth across the business, continuous expansion and future plans to develop existing care homes and acquired sites into similar project, we are seeking an ambitious and experienced Financial Controller to join our high calibre finance team, based in North-East London. Reporting into the Board, you will lead the financial accounting for the Group, along with the smooth and efficient running of the operational processes. Ownership of the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting functions, to identify results, trends, and variances to the financial forecasts. Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing credit control functions. Supervise, manage and motivate financial department staff by clarifying roles and providing helpful feedback Ensure that integrity of accounting system is maintained to accurately to record the financial position of the Group, completing control accounts reconciliations, resolving differences and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. Contribute to the short- and medium-term planning process, preparation of accurate forecasts through maintenance of a robust Forecasting Models in Financial Accounts. Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction and additional revenue generation opportunities To assist in the bank funding proposals for new developments. To optimise the financial performance of each home by analysing all accounting information and providing guidance to the home managers and administrators (particularly on purchasing of supplies) Report to the Board with timely and accurate financial information Ensure Tax compliance in accordance with HMRC requirements and legislation, including completing VAT returns, approving and reconciling payroll on a monthly basis. Developing and maintaining first class systems and controls Liaise with the group's auditors, bankers and professional advisors Procure telecoms services, insurance and utilities supplies for all the group's homes Undertake ad hoc projects from time to time, as and when necessary. The Ideal Candidate will have: Essential Skills/Experience: Must be fully qualified ACA/ACCA Proven working experience as a Financial Controller, preferably in healthcare section 10 plus years of overall combined accounting and finance experience, and thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures. Highly motivated and enthusiastic with the ability to continuously improve the way the team work. Excellent verbal & written communication and presentation & analytical skill Good planning and organisational skills, able to plan ahead, complete tasks on time and to the required standard. Must have the ability to deal with difficult situations calmly and objectively. Flexible and adaptable, with a positive attitude to change and improvement. Ability to make effective decisions and to work to tight deadlines. Must be able to multi-task and prioritise activities in line with business requirements.
