Reed accountancy Oxfordshire are excited to be working with a prestigious college in Oxford, for an Accounts Assistant, to do 37 hours a week, Monday-Friday. The role will be ideally suited for an experienced Accounts Assistant who is looking to take the next step and take ownership and have some input in the way the processes are undertaken. The role offers a competitive salary, pension, free lunch and 30 days paid annual leave (plus bank holidays). Whilst the day-to-day responsibilities of the role will depend on the candidate, the new appointee will take on running and updating our catering prices/charging system and the processing of miscellaneous charges to battels. This is likely to also involve credit control and reconciliation of accounts for leavers. The college are looking to improve their financial processes in liaison with the development office team, reconciling their income, claiming gift aid and efficiently allocating money received to funds. On a day to day basis, the college handle hardship grants and scholarships for their students using a new module of our Mercury finance system and you are likely to take on responsibility for maintaining this and making payments of agreed awards, as well as scheduling and collecting repayments of loans made to students. You will also take responsibility for our cash handling and banking. The ideal candidate will be experienced in an Accounts Assistant role and have experience on accounting systems. You will ideally have gained experience from a college, charity or higher education environment. You will be able to take control of your work and prioritise a workload.
