Job Description Primary role purpose: Inmarsat has embarked on a journey to transform its Record to Report processes through the introduction of best practice SAP and business processes and controls. As a result, a contract opportunity has arisen in the Accounting Operations - CAPEX team for a qualified accountant to: Assist with analysing in detail Inmarsat's Fixed Asset Register and Fixed Asset General Ledger accounts, across the group, with the view of simplifying the asset structure, asset classes and financial statement categories Investigate and understand the group financial structure, including past acquisitions resulting in acquired assets and intangible assets arising on acquisition Overall management of the Group's Fixed Asset Register and related General Ledger fixed asset accounts The role requires an Accountant who will bring energy and expertise to this dynamic and diverse company They will need to influence and work closely with the Business Units, Group and Shared Service finance functions, including senior managers across the business units Key

Responsibilities:
Full analysis of the Fixed Asset Register ("FAR") and Manual GL accounts relating to fixed assets with a view of simplifying and consolidating assets and projects into a "Best Practice" FAR Full investigation of physical asset location across the business and ensuring the FAR assets are reflective of this Understanding all manual GL fixed asset accounts with the view to move these onto the FAR Managing all stakeholders including the CAPEX manager, SAP experts and other members of the extended finance team across the business units (including senior financial stakeholders) Pro-actively seeking areas to improve both the statutory reporting process (in relation to the PPE and Intangible note disclosures) and the external audit and related internal processes Qualifications Essential Knowledge and Skills: Professional accounting qualification (ACA or overseas equivalent) Excellent knowledge of IFRS particularly IAS 16 and IAS 38 (and GAAP equivalent) Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken Strong people skills, confident and comfortable at engaging collaboratively in an intellectual and multinational environment. Strong knowledge of Excel is critical (pivot tables, Vlookup's etc.) Flexible, hard-working and results oriented Strong analytical and decision making skills Desirable Knowledge and Skills: Experience of SAP (particularly in Asset Accounting) would be an advantage but is not essential Additional Information You must be eligible to work in this location advertised.
