Marshall Aerospace is looking for a proactive, self-motivated accountant with a positive and "can-do" attitude to join its Central Finance Team. The role will be responsible for finance business partnering and will be part of the Reporting and Controls team. You will be responsible for working in partnership with a number of business areas in a financial capacity to provide them with real time support. You will be working with senior stakeholders at a director level and must therefore be able to build professional relationships with key decision makers and support the board at a strategic level. You will be responsible for working with the budget holders in the business area to create accurate, timely and well understood annual budgets and monthly IBP ("Integrated business planning") reforecasts. You will have joint accountability with the budget holder for the accuracy of these forecasts. It will be key that you can understand and articulate the operational opportunities, risks and sensitivities associated with the financial forecasts in a way that ensures the budget holder is fully briefed and understands the levers of control they can exercise to manage these. You must be able to effectively challenge and influence senior stakeholders to ensure forecasts are materially accurate and there is a measurable uplift in performance in that business area. You will also be responsible for monthly reporting where you will independently conduct monthly review meetings with budget holders to ensure they understand any material variances against budget and are in a position to brief their peers on the board and create and implement effective plans to manage any operational matters creating a deterioration in the financial result. You will need to be able to analyse data and communicate this in verbal, written and visual ways to ensure it is thoroughly understood by non-financial stakeholders. This information must be accurate and based on sound assumptions to ensure that appropriate decisions are being made. You will need to have a flexible style to ensure you can appropriately inform and influence key decision makers with differing styles. You must be comfortable challenging current ways of working, in finance and the operational areas, to consistently drive efficiency and cost savings. You should also be able to create metrics and KPIs that enable the business areas to manage and monitor their performance. The business uses COGNOS TM1 for budgeting, forecasting and management reporting and you would be responsible for ensuring we use this to streamline processes and create efficiencies where these are possible. You will need to work closely with a team of other business partners to drive the strategic agenda and focus on the businesses key priorities. You must therefore be a team player and be able to prioritise strategic and tactical tasks that you have joint and individual responsibility for. You will have oversight of other employees responsibilities and will need to be able to balance their needs with your own, proactively providing development opportunities to other members of the team. Other Areas of Responsibility You may also be responsible for the following areas: Supporting ad hoc projects in both Reporting and Control and Financial Planning and Analysis. This will include various one off tasks to support business change, e.g. activity based costing, investment or capital expenditure appraisals etc Supporting balance sheet reviews and analysis including working with the project accountants across the business to understand project related balance sheet codes and ensure central control of these balances is maintained and balances are understood. Ad hoc support for the implementation of a new ERP system where this affects Reporting and Control and Financial Planning and Analysis Qualifications Your experience will include: ACCA, ACA, CIMA qualified/part-qualified Experience in a corporate accounting or finance role, preferable in a large company and complex environment To be successful in this role a candidate will need to be able to evidence the following skills and competencies: Experience in performing budgeting and forecasting processes Excellent analytical skills Managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines with a high quality of work Solving complex problems autonomously Making difficult or unpopular decisions Managing and influencing senior stakeholders, including those from a non-financial background Puts energy and perseverance into driving change in a difficult environment
