Our commercial teams help ensure that the business takes sound decisions through robust planning, careful pricing, sound contracts, skilled procurement and rigorous evaluation of every major business decision.Job DescriptionPrimary role purpose:Accountability for the delivery of right first time accounting transactions, reporting and analysis, in line with the group accounting policies, in a tightly controlled environment. Working closely with the Business Units to ensure the financial information is a true reflection of what is happening in the business unitsMotivating and transforming a team of 30 individuals over multiple global locationsDeveloping and embedding the roadmap to a faster close processKey

Responsibilities:
Accurate & timely reporting of trial balance, internal management accounts & monthly metrics with insightful analysis of month end numbers including a reconciled & supported balance sheetTo own and continually improve the financial processes and controls for the group to ensure there are no material errors in the accountsTo ensure financial transactions are recorded in accordance with Inmarsat policy and IFRSLeads and is accountable for the teams and outputs covering all accounting processes, including capex, opex, revenue & gross margin, supply chain and intercompany accounting - through to the trial balanceStreamline the supply chain (inventory) accounting processes and controls and embed a relatively new teamOwns all finance master data including any associated streamlining and cleansing activityDeliver a materially faster close process, taking the process form WD6 to WD4 in the short to medium term, whilst not impacting the accuracyCollaborate with the Group Accounting team to ensure accurate notes to accounts are prepared in line with the Group Accounting PolicyLeverage a team of SAP Super Users to collaborate with the OneIT team to ensure the right changes are being made to SAP in a tight and controlled manner to improve processes and increase automationTeam leadership of a large team of 30 individuals based over multiple locations ensuring regular coaching, performance feedback and appropriate training is in placeContribute to and help deliver the overall Financial Operations roadmapQualificationsEssential Knowledge and Skills:Graduate with an accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA or ACCA) or equivalentStrong experience in relevant material roles within high quality companies ideally with strong Telco backgroundProactive individual with the ability and proven experience of effectively manage various accounting and shared services projects to a high quality solution simultaneously whilst adhering to deadlines, utilising best practise tools and techniquesIn depth knowledge of relevant accounting and shared services best practice with proven ability to implement and sustain a high quality financial operationStrong people skills; impactful, confident, credible and comfortable at engaging collaboratively in an intellectual and multinational environment at all levels. Strong verbal and written communications skills. Able to motivate, lead, manage and influence.Strong results orientated work ethic and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with passion for excellence and innovation.
