SUMMARY OF ROLE Cascade Technologies is a world leader in the design and manufacture of quantum cascade laser-based gas sensors. Key markets include process control, continuous emissions monitoring (CEMs), automotive, marine, aerosol, food and beverage. The primary role of the job is:
• To maintain the integrity of the Nominal Ledger, Inventory Reporting, Fixed Assets, Balance Sheet accounts and the Company Reporting activities.
• Preparation of monthly management accounts and associated reconciliations with a high focus on Inventory, uploads and other financial reporting.
• Work closely with Operations, Supply Chain and Engineering to increase understanding of financial transactions resulting from new MRP business system.
• Provide cover for Finance Assistant and Financial Controller as required.
• Be a proactive member of the Finance team in the wider business activities. PRINCIPAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure accounting policies comply with the relevant accounting standards and that Emerson CP&Ps are followed.
• Develop and maintain systems and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective management of the company's finances in line with corporate objectives.
• Preparation of monthly financials for submission to Financial Controller for review. Upload to HFM.
• Reconcile all inventory movements in the month including raw materials, finished goods, Work in Progress (WIP) and New Product Development purchases.
• Liaison with Operations, Supply Chain and Engineering to identify and reconcile any Inventory variances generated by the new MRP system in relation to Bill of Materials (BoM), work orders and adjustments.
• Review of material and labour costs providing variance analysis against monthly plan to Financial Controller and Operations Manager for review of costs and closure of WIP jobs.
• Prepare prepayments and accruals and ensure accurate reflection in the Nominal ledger. Review overhead costs for correct allocation to cost centre and nature of charge.
• Maintain fixed assets register to ensure company assets are accurately reported and reconciled to AR register.
• Submit monthly finance schedules including Other Other, POR (Forecast), Destination Sales, Product Group and Kind of Business (KOB) reports to HFM liaising with Financial Controller.
• Prepare month end Control File reconciling all Balance Sheet accounts to ensure the integrity of the financial information.
• Responsible for maintaining foreign exchange rates in Sage including re-valuation of month end balances on all ledgers.
• Run Month end process on Sage for all ledgers fully reconciling and closing period end in agreement with Financial Controller.
• Liaise with R&D team to provide financial knowledge and reporting of company projects.
• Responsibility for VAT reporting, EC Sales list, EU dispatch and Arrivals reporting (Intrastat) and compliance with HMRC policies and procedures.
• Prepare schedules for external auditors liaising with other departments as required.
• Work with Finance Assistant to manage day to day activities including banking and invoice coding issues in line with agreed objectives and ensure the role is covered when required.

This job description is non-contractual and is for information and mutual understanding of both parties. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Qualified accountant of a recognised professional body with three to five years post qualification experience.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment with the ability to interrogate and reconcile Inventory transactions to a high level of detail.
• Sound and up to date knowledge of UKGAAP and USGAAP.
• Up to date knowledge of Vat, and Intrastat with HMRC.
• Excellent Excel analysis and modelling skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours according to job requirements.
• Knowledge of Sage 200, MRP in a manufacturing environment, HFM and Smartview preferred but not essential.
• A self-starter with a flexible, pro-active approach and positive attitude to the diverse needs of the role is essential.
• The ability to work well cross functionally with non-Finance employees across the business.
