Change Public Practice are working with a leading Chartered Accountancy firm to assist them in the growth of their national Valuations team. There are opportunities for Newly Qualified CA's and Audit Assistant Managers to transition into a Valuations role in both Edinburgh and Glasgow. This team is growing in Scotland and is one of the most varied areas of advisory. With no day being the same, the types of projects that you will work on range from undertaking corporate valuations for businesses / assets for a sale or acquisition; valuation of shares for a company share scheme; valuation of shares for retirement or dispute cases etc. This role will involve working with teams across all areas of the business including corporate finance, tax for assistance on inheritance tax or corporate tax advice etc. The ideal person for this role will come from an audit background, be CA qualified or due to qualify, and have a very analytical and enquiring mind-set. This role is about being creative with numbers, identifying risks and presenting information about a business that is required by the client. There is a real opportunity for career development in an advisory capacity with this role. Responsibilities will include:
• Ensure that the firms' risk management and client take-on procedures have appropriately been complied with
• Provide effective project management of valuation engagements from inception to completion
• Execute robust technical valuation analyses for a variety of purposes including for accounting, tax, commercial and forensic engagements
• Deliver clear, succinct and robust valuation reports that are fit for purpose and accessible to non-technical read
• Manage client expectations and relationships skilfully through timely and appropriate communication
• Provide effective intellectual input and challenge to senior members of staff in the completion of projects with conceptual complications
• Carry out relevant technical research relevant to a specific area of valuations and present key findings to the valuations team
• Maintain a network of professionals and business contacts, identify and recognise business opportunities
• Deliver talks, by way of seminars and presentations, both internally and externally, on valuations subjects
• Contribute to the team's digital marketing strategy by publishing research and topical thought pieces on social media
• Act as an ambassador of the firm, participate in marketing events, keep abreast of the wide range of services the service offering Requirements:
• Ideally you will have previous experience gained within valuations from another Practice firm, however, those who have trained in Audit or Accounts and looking to develop their career in valuations will also be considered. Full training will be provided
• Previous Practice experience is essential i.e. Big 4, Top 10, Mid-tier CA etc.
• You will have a minimum of 3 years' experience gained within Practice
• Ideally you will hold a CA qualification i.e. ICAS / ACCA / CFA but those who are due to be qualified shortly will also be considered
• Must have an analytical and enquiring mind-set
• Ability to assess information, identify risks and positive and present findings in a clear and concise manner
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to understand the internal and external drivers of value for a given asset
