The acquisition of Discuva Ltd. in late 2017 has given us a technology platform to aid in the discovery of novel mechanism antibiotics which helps expand our pipeline. Summit are looking for a dynamic, innovative and experienced Financial Controller to join and help lead the group finance team, taking responsibility for day to day finance related activities and working closely with FP&A and Financial Reporting as well as the VP of Finance. You will actively contribute towards the drive for continuous improvement, looking to maximise operational efficiency and improve upon standard operating procedures for all systems and processes. The Group Financial Controller will lead a team of five people and take responsibility for the operational running of the finance function including income accounting, procure to pay processes, grant accounting, payroll and VAT. You will lead the production of the monthly management accounts, with close support from the Group Management Accountant and liaison with the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis as well as working closely with the Financial Reporting team to ensure complete, accurate and timely statutory reporting on a quarterly and annual basis to meet UK and US/SEC reporting requirements. You will also manage intercompany transactions, support tax compliance and tax planning activities and ensure SOX compliance by the team and the wider business. Other areas of responsibility will include assisting with the procurement and management of group insurances and managing and helping to coordinate group interactions with clearing banks, including treasury deposits and currency arrangements. The successful candidate will be ACA or ACCA qualified with a strong all-round knowledge of the current technical financial reporting environment. You will have proven experience of leading and managing a team and practical understanding of the statutory and tax compliance filing requirements of a global group, including experience of consolidation. With strong Excel and a high level of accuracy you will be able to build relationships and communicate and influence at all levels.
