£27,947 - £36,912 Working Pattern: 12 month contract 37 hours per week About the Department Our SSE Finance function has a key part to play in fulfilling SSEs obligations as a UK-listed company, providing expertise and services that can be shared across the SSE Group, and working in partnership with all businesses to provide services tailored to their specific needs. What is the Role The EPM Assistant Accountant is responsible for the execution of comprehensive general accounting and period closing activities. Responsibility for supporting the 'EPM Financial Operations Accountant and the 'EPM Forecasting & Projects Accountant to deliver the accurate and timely execution of the month end management accounts and EPM forecasting requirements. This will include transactional processing activities such as posting standard journals, bank reconciliations, running reports, and populating budget & forecast templates. Will form part of the Finance Team providing transactional accounting support for the EPM & Investments Finance Team across the monthly accounting cycle. What do I need? Part qualified Accountant working toward completion of exams with proven experience working within a large finance team along with the ability to work with minimal supervision after a training period and deliver high quality work to deadlines. Able to work independently, target focused and result driven, strong ability to bring about change and deliver on tasks effectively, produces high quality outputs in a timely fashion and builds relationships across all levels of the organisation, as well as externally. Must be a strong team player who displays potential leadership skills and a drive to progress your career and have experienced in Budgeting, Forecasting, Month-end close, Month-end reporting and financial controls. A drive to consistently improve processes and to support others in the team to do the same. knowledge of core financial systems and general accounting procedures along with an interest in the UK wholesale Power & Gas markets beneficial (but not essential) Functional and Technical Skills. Proficient in MS Office applications (particularly excel) Degree-level education or equivalent with knowledge of ERP software (Oracle desirable.
