Stephenson Harwood are currently seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join our Accounts team. The London accounts team currently comprises of 28 employees and is headed up by the Director of Accounts and the worldwide Director of Finance. The team is made up of several discrete sections: management accounts; purchase ledger; partners' personal accounting; credit control; cashiering and billing. The Assistant Management Accountant the Senior Management Accountant, who heads up the management accounts team. There will also be frequent liaison with the Director of Accounts and worldwide Director of Finance Main responsibilities Assist the management accountant with the preparation of monthly Management Accounts Posting of prepayments, accruals and journals Maintaining the fixed asset register Managing monthly fee earner targets Authorisation of supplier invoices, staff expense claims and bank payments Assisting with the London annual budgeting and forecasting process Intercompany reconciliations Assist with the preparation of tax computation and PAYE Settlement Agreement schedules Assisting with the testing and development of new financial reports Preparation quarterly & annual legal surveys and National Statistics reports Preparation of ad hoc management information data Attributes/skills required Experience preparing monthly management accounts - desirable Strong excel skills A flexible, professional and proactive attitude Able to use own initiative and challenge work practices Strong communication and interpersonal skills and excellent team player Be flexible to do any additional hours when necessary to meet task deadlines Education and experience Studying towards an accountancy qualification - ideally around 2 years remaining Experience of the legal or professional services environment - desirable The Firm Stephenson Harwood is a law firm with 1100 people worldwide, including more than 180 partners.
