Role OverviewThis is an exciting and pivotal role within UK Business Energy Procurement team. The key purpose is to evaluate risk exposures inherent to the pricing and hedging strategies of UK Business and to develop appropriate risk methodologies and reporting tools to support and monitor the commercial hedging decisions made by UK Business. You will be working closely with other business units; such as Pricing, Forecasting, Energy Marketing & Trading, Downstream Risk and Finance; and will be involved in a variety of interesting project management and change management activities directed at risk reduction and hedging optimisation.Key Responsibilities Accurate, timely and relevant weekly and monthly reporting on procurement and pricing activitiesAssisting in the development of dynamic hedging and sourcing strategies for gas and power to Business CustomersSupporting flex customers in their hedging decisions, including the maintenance of risk toolsUnderstanding, evaluating and communicating elements of risk within existing and proposed pricing products sold to retail Business CustomersReviewing and approving forecast assumptions used by the Forecasting team.Establishing robust risk assessment processes and procedures in line with Company best practicePricing various energy market risks such as imbalance and power/gas shapingPresenting on Risk to senior management and reporting of BGB's key financial risksPerson Specification Degree/MSc/PhD in Mathematics/Statistics/Computing/Engineering or highly numerate disciplineStrong numeracy and IT skills, must be fluent in common MS packages and ideally with experience of simulation techniques, risk and statistical analysisIntuitive understanding of probability and modelling, including limitations of mathematical modelsBroad knowledge of either the gas, power or renewables markets would be advantageous, but not essentialAttention to detail and high levels of accuracy along with a pro-active approach to workAbility to rapidly understand and diagnose business problemsHigh personal impactKey Benefits25 days annual leaveCompetitive pension schemeCompany and personal performance related bonusPLEASE APPLY ONLINE by hitting the 'Apply' button.Applications will ONLY be accepted via the 'Apply' button.This role is being handled by the Centrica recruitment team and NO agency contact is required.
