And we're always on the look-out for smart, talented people who share our values. Job Description The successful candidate will perform the role of Purchase Ledger Assistant. This role reports into our Purchase Ledger Manager. The Purchase Ledger Team is part of the wider Central Finance Team which offers purchase ledger services across the Octopus Group. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities Scanning, processing of incoming supplier invoices and matching to purchase orders. Ensuring POs and invoices are appropriately coded to the nominal ledger Processing of weekly payment runs, preparation of BACS runs. Reconciliation of supplier statements. Proactively engaging in solving queries relating to accounts payable, both from within the Octopus business and our external suppliers Regular review of open POs, are they still required by the business? Input into the Octopus month end process, creditors ledger reconciliations, with explanations for any aging supplier creditors. Ensuring purchase ledger is coded in accordance to VAT rules. Responsible for 'first line' review of staff expenses, ensuring all staff expenses are accompanied by the appropriate supportive receipts and are in line with expenses policy - flagging to the purchase ledger manager any 'out of policy' claims. We are about to engage in a systems upgrade for our PO/Invoice/Staff expenses system. The role will have an opportunity to be involved in the implementation our new system. Qualifications Essential Ability to work within a team environment to ensure service level agreements (SLA's) are met. Should be very eager to help and delight their customers, giving suppliers and out internal stakeholders excellent service Eager to make a difference, someone who prides themselves in being efficient and suggesting process and systems improvements. Demonstrates high standards of ethical behaviour across the company. Desirable Demonstrable track record of improving processes and controls. Knowledge of SUN/Proactis is an advantage but not a pre-requisite.
