Our Scotland Tax team has exciting plans for the coming years and we are setting out a clear message that we're growing a team for the future. We want the right people on board to achieve these growth objectives. Our tax professionals help businesses meet complex demands for UK tax reporting, compliance, planning, strategy and controversy. By integrating deep technical and industry knowledge with established methodologies, they work with a wide range of businesses and corporates to help them develop and implement effective, practical and sustainable tax strategies. Professionals in our tax controversy and risk management team assist clients through their interactions with HMRC, including voluntary disclosures and during enquiries. They are also expected to support clients with reviewing transparency and reporting obligations, including preparing tax strategy / policy documents, evaluating how tax risk is viewed in the business, supporting businesses to prepare for SAO certification, preparing for a HMRC Business Risk Review and developing testing programmes to ensure controls are operating effectively. The opportunity As a business tax advi sory professional, you'll be helping clients through the commitments of planning, tax compliance and maintaining effective relationships with the tax authorities. This includes helping clients to mitigate tax risk, comply effectively with tax laws and take into account the prospect of change. The team also support businesses in effectively managing enquiries through to a resolution, including the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution and litigation. Your key responsibilities To contribute to the efficient and successful delivery of tax services to the client Maintain tax relationships with clients and provide high levels of client service Grow relationships both within the firm and externally with clients, identifying opportunities and managing expectations Contribute to winning new work by proactively growing existing clients and contribute to winning new clients. Support the successful delivery of tax projects, ensuring technical excellence and practical/business driven approach taken Responsible for day-to-day client liaison Provide full tax services to a client portfolio Skills and attributes for success Experienced corporate tax practitioner or HMRC Inspector Proven ability to read and interpret existing and new tax statute Team player; ability to integrate with new teams quickly Outgoing with good relationship skills and the ability to deliver quality output Strong technical skills and keen to develop further Ability to grow strong client relationships Excellent communicator in range of situations both written and oral Ability to identify areas of risk, carry out an effective review and know when to refer upwards Client focused and commercially aware Relationship management skills with ability to manage client expectations Ability to grow effective relationships at all levels Project management skills, plan and prioritize work, meet deadlines, monitor own budget Ability to solve problems creatively and pragmatically To qualify for the role you must have ACA/CA/ACCA/CTA; or Tax Inspectors with full Technical Training Course (IDP/TPDP/TSP etc); or Law qualification Experienced corporate tax practitioner Experience in tax accounting/tax audit Proven ability to read and interpret existing and new tax statute Project management skills, plan and prioritize work, meet deadlines, monitor own budget Ideally, you'll also have/be ADIT (or one or more individual papers within the qualification) CEDR mediator accreditation Degree qualified What we look for Self-starter, proactive in your approach and able to work with minimal supervision Team player; ability to integrate with new teams quickly Outgoing with good relationship skills and the ability to deliver quality output Excellent communicator in range of situations both written and oral Change orientated with flexible approach What working at EY offers We offer a competitive remuneration package where you'll be rewarded for your individual and team performance.
