Agora Talent are excited to be partnering with a well-known retailer on their search for a Finance Analyst. This forward-thinking, driven company have just created a new function within the business; the Commercial Finance Team. This is the first hire within the team, and they are really excited to see what value this will bring to the business. This is a chance to work alongside a really high-calibre team (backgrounds from widely recognised FTSE listed retailers) who are excited about driving the profitability of the business having made recent changes to the finance function (i.e new ERP system). If you are seeking a flexible work environment including work from home, dress down and a fun, sociable office environment then read on... Role Responsibilities... Commercial Analysis i. Provide support to the Channel teams / Head of Commercial Finance on analysis of:
• Sales by channel / product category
• Margin by channel / product category
• Chanel specific variable costs, particularly those impact margin (e.g. commissions)
• Channel KPIs
• Other ad-hoc projects and business cases ii. Use this analysis to provide insight and highlight trends, anomalies, opportunities and risks. iii. Provide decision support for trading activities (particularly promotions) and build and embed tools to ensure that activities can be planned and reviewed. Business Partnering i. Build and develop partnering relationships with channel stakeholders. ii. Attend regular review meetings with channel leadership teams. Month-end close i. Process relevant channel journals, accruals, and prepayments. ii. Review channel performance. iii. Produce monthly financial and KPI reports with accompanying commentary to agreed deadlines. Budgeting, Forecasting, and Planning i. Working with the channel leadership team to prepare the annual budget for sales, margin, and costs. ii. Work with the channel leadership teams on the regular forecasting process, ensuring that risks and opportunities are quantified, accurately forecast, and communicated. Information and Reporting i. Daily / Weekly month reporting on sales, margins, costs, and stock ii. Use the new BI tool to make reporting more effective and efficient iii. Champion the use of the BI tool within the business Experience Required... Part-qualified accountant with industry experience from FMCG or retail businesses. Can demonstrate examples of using commercial analysis to add value, particularly supporting sales and margin. Proven business-partnering experience. Experience of budgeting and forecasting. Strong Excel skills. Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, both within and outside of finance.
