A Financial Controller opportunity has become available in a business going through a period of change. Following the recruitment of a new CFO they are now on a journey to improving the way the processes run. The business is a UK distributor that sells hi-tech machinery to the FMCG industry with some prestigious clients in their portfolio. The Financial Controller role is one that has the development opportunities as the CFO looks to pass several of their responsibilities on to this role.
Your new role
As the Financial Controller, you will be central the performance of the whole organisation. With Finance always seen as the "go to" team for the business, you will hold some key relationships with the other managers.
With the support of your team of 5 you will be responsible for the day to day management of the transaction finance and reconciliations. As the work they do for their clients is project based, their are project accounting responsibilities you will need to over see.
Month end will see you being very hands on at the start of your time in this role as you get to grips with how the business operates. As time goes on, you will look to develop your team to support with this, delegating areas of month end to help develop the accounts assistants in your team.
You will head up the budgeting & forecasting process for the business and work with the management team to produce this and submit to the German owners. this will see you interrogating the processes and procedures and educating the operations and sales teams to understand how what they do, affects finance. You will also work closing with the sales teams to convert the projects they secure in to a structures P&L to ensure it is a commercially viable job
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will be a qualified accountant with at least 2-3 years in a Finance Manager or Financial Controller role. Ideally you will have working in a product or stock based environment as they have a high volume of spare parts to track and reconcile. You will ideally be looking for a role that offers you development and where you are keen to take on more.
