JOB DESCRIPTION MAIN JOB ROLE : To ensure that all aspects of financial reporting and auditing are carried out in a timely and efficient manner, in accordance with prescribed systems and procedures and that all relevant files are passed upwards for manager/director review at the acceptable quality standard. On some jobs the senior may be asked to handle a small portfolio of clients. REPORTS TO: Designated manager PRINCIPAL ELEMENTS: 1. ACCOUNTS 1.1 Prepare management accounts
• Complete on time, accurately and thoroughly
• Complete all sections and pass on for manager review 1.2 Prepare complex assignments for manager review 1.3 Utilise junior staff on more simple assignments and oversee their work standard
• Support trainees and help with development of knowledge and skills 1.4 Review annual accounts prepared by juniors 1.5 Finalise accounts
• Complete all sections of the accounts file
• Pass on for manager review
• Indicate clearly any points that need further clarification 2. AUDIT - where applicable 2.1 Complete planning documentation so that audits are carried out effectively 2.2 Perform the role of the senior representative on site and conduct all relationships with the client in a professional manner 2.3 Utilise and plan junior staff effectively and oversee their work standard 2.4 Review/finish audit file to the appropriate standard, suitable for manager review
• Planning - playing an active part in assisting the manager in audit planning
• Field work - carried out with minimal supervision in accordance with the audit planning
• Completion - playing an active part in assisting the manager in completing the file. 3. TAX 3.1 Deal with complex business tax computations, including corporation tax 3.2 Prepare personal tax returns for manager/director review.
• Ensuring that clients are given good, pro-active advice as to limiting their tax liabilities within the boundaries of the legislative framework 4. CLIENT 4.1 Deliver the service and develop the relationship
• Relationship build so that trust, respect and understanding are the underpinning features
• Seek client feedback, act and report on it
• Communicate by letter, telephone and face to face in a professional manner, recognising and addressing the clients' needs 4.2 Prepare necessary files/documents for client meetings
• Empathise with the needs of the manager conducting the meeting
• Provide not just basic information, but also notes of a 'what if' nature
• Take every opportunity to encourage the uptake of wider, added value services 5. CONTROLS 5.1 Take account of budgets in utilization of own time and overseeing juniors' time
• Own time management
• Time management of junior staff
• Business mind-set 5.2 Make manager aware of potential for overrun at earliest opportunity
• Pro-active, not reactive
• Prompt upward communication, predicting possible concerns and offering suggestions to remedy 5.3 Ensure that all laid down systems, processes and procedures are complied with

• Work is carried out by self and juniors according to 's standard operating principles 6. TEAM - where applicable 6.1 Provide daily feedback to all direct reports
