Vargo is recruiting a Financial Accountant for a large transport company in South Wales. You will be required to monitor the business cashflow, preparing weekly forecasts, providing insight and analysis into our client's funding needs. The role is a key part of the finance team, supporting the financial controller and other parts of the business, with a focus on accounting for the capital assets and projects. As a slow-growing organisation, you'll need to work with the Financial Controller to implement efficient and diligent financial practices, ensuring good governance, especially around the company balance sheet and banking operations. With the high-profile transfer of assets, our client will need you to record the newly-acquired fixed assets, tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation and accounting for revaluation, impairment and disposal of fixed assets in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The ideal candidate would need to be a qualified Accountant with ACA, CIMA, CIPFA, ICAEW or ACCA and experience of accounting for fixed assets under IFRS or UK GAAP. With a strong academic background and interpersonal skills, you will need to have the ability to communicate effectively and influence all types of people at all levels of management. Successful candidates need to be self-motivated and pro-active in all aspects of the role. It would also be beneficial if you also had a knowledge and use of the finance and operations module Microsoft Dynamics. A wealth of experience of performing cashflow forecasts and financial reporting would be essential, along with experience of performing investment appraisal calculations (e.g. Net Present Value).
