Financial Accountant Permanent, Full time, flexible working Salary - Circa £38,185 We're looking for a highly motivated qualified Financial Accountant to join our fantastic Finance team based at our head office in Baglan, situated in-between J41 & 42 of the M4 with free onsite parking. Ensuring year end accounts are accurate, timely and compliant with all accounting standards. Communicating with External Audit during interim and year end audits. Responsibility for co-ordinating, implementing and monitoring external and internal audit recommendations. Responsible for the completion of statutory returns, ensuring accurate and timely submissions to Welsh Government and Office for National Statistics. Responsible for the management, development and maintenance of the Chart of Accounts, ensuring a control framework is established and maintained. Reporting and monitoring of the Welsh Government value for money indicators. Management of the Revenue Accounting function, including the development and monitoring of internal controls, policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory and financial legislation. Responsible for the revenue budget and forecasts, ensuring compliance with Welsh Government's Rent Policy. To monitor and communicate Welsh Government's Rent Policy changes, assessing business and tenant impact. To work with the business and academy on the annual affordability and value for money (VFM) assessment, across rent and service charges, reporting findings to Board. Finance lead on forecasting bad and doubtful debt, working with the business to understand key contributors, including impact of universal credit. Responsible for providing statistical analysis and reporting KPI's, recommending any areas for closer monitoring or improvement. Responsible for all Tax and VAT compliance, providing advice on liability, transactional issues and the associated treatment of expenditure. Finance lead on Financial Process and system implementations, providing financial expertise, project management and training to ensure efficient and effective delivery. Finance lead on the affordable rents review including any VFM, affordability and rent redistribution initiatives. Provide leadership to staff within the Revenue Accounting function, identify opportunities to improve team performance through effective direction, objective setting and performance evaluation, development, training and coaching. Develop and co-ordinate financial training to non-finance staff across the business. Act as mentor to staff undertaking financial training.
