We are looking for an experienced Tax Associate Director. You will work with Prime Finance trading staff and senior management team to mitigate tax risk and enhance returns for flow products (including stock lending, repo and equity derivatives) across multiple jurisdictions. Develop and implement new products, booking models and trading strategies within the Equity Finance and Delta One business where tax, accounting and regulatory factors constitute relevant considerations. Duties include Working with traders, clients and senior management to develop products within the Equity Finance and Delta One business including assisting with due diligence to confirm analysis (including tax, accounting and regulatory aspects) Publication of tax alerts/updates for markets globally, where it may impact the Prime Finance business Analysis of transaction tax and CGT liabilities within the business Link between Front Office and Group Tax Internal Transfer Pricing Review Working with internal HSBC areas to assist in their understanding of proposals and facilitate approvals, including liaising with external advisors and seeking sign-off from Group Tax Working with trading desks, clients and support functions in coordinating documentation and execution of transactions Monitoring tax changes and communicating key impacts to internal stakeholders on a timely basis and via periodic updates to external Prime Finance clients. Updating trade procedures or opinions where necessary. Working with Group Tax and Tax Operations to manage ongoing withholding tax reclaims. Developing product and industry knowledge and understanding the relevant drivers/constraints (market developments, regulatory, accounting, economic, tax, credit) Active participation in the relevant trade associations meetings on topics that may impact the industry Understanding, following and demonstrating compliance with relevant rules (internal and external), regulations and procedures applying to the conduct of the Prime Finance business. Specifically, internal controls and compliance procedures, including HSBC Group policies. The role holder will ensure the HSBC values are present in everything we do, both individually and as an organisation. Experience Bachelors degree or above Tax professional with experience within Investment Bank/Asset Manager/Hedge Fund - Equities experience preferable Strong analytical and quantitative background. Familiarity with Bloomberg, pricing tools and experience of complex financial scenario analysis would be an advantage. Knowledge of financial mathematics Medium level of understanding of capital markets instruments and operations Strong communication skills - required for interacting with clients, advisors, internal stakeholders, and understanding and contributing to complex transactional documentation.
