Purpose of role: Gardner Aerospace was recently acquired by LAT, a listed company on the Shenzen Stock Exchange. Together with our new owner, we have an ambitious plan to become a leading player (Global Top 75) in the manufacture of detailed parts and other aircraft components. This will be achieved through organic growth such as our investment in a 50,000m3 manufacturing facility in Chengdu, China to service the fastest growing aviation market in the world, and further acquisitions in both Americas, Europe and Asia. Reporting to the CFO, this key role is responsible for all Group reporting, maintenance of financial controls and accurate accounting records for the Group, preparation of management accounts, supporting shareholders in Chinese Stock Exchange reporting, assisting in the preparation of statutory accounts and coordinating statutory audits. This role would also manage global treasury and taxation functions. The role would give opportunity for business partnering with the Board, functional leaders and site accountants. Lead finance and business improvement activities aimed at improving forecast accuracy and delivering a faster close with better quality of reporting. The role has management responsibility for the Finance Shared Services team (Derby, India) and Head Office accountant. Principal Accountabilities:
• Preparation of management accounts, monthly financial data and budgets and forecasts
• 3 day close with opportunity to further reduce
• Manage Back Office resources, including Indian service provider
• Variable and indirect cost control and improvement
• Support the preparation of cash forecasts
• Oversee VAT returns and HMRC trading returns - EC, Intrastat
• Provide support to site operations teams
• Identify and communicate financial problems and opportunities requiring management focus
• Working capital management and improvement
• Best practice sharing between sites
• Transfer price management
• Preparation of statutory accounts. Clean year-end Auditor's report
• Support the CFO and other finance staff as required
• Assist with ad hoc financial and non-financial analysis and reporting as required Financial Planning & Analysis Enhancements:
• Lead projects to deliver enhancements in the financial reporting environment aimed at improving the quality of information and speed of reporting Core skills/attributes needed: Commercial Leadership and skills Driven individual with high ambition, ability to control multiple work-streams and maximise use of staff and back-office A qualified accountant with accounting experience within an international manufacturing environment. Likely an ACA Group/Head Office experience with likely exposure to Treasury, Tax and transfer pricing Experience and success in Group accounting, reporting and audit Knowledge and experience with industry recognised finance software packages, preferably Oracle. Excellent technical accounting, financial reporting and forecasting skills Proven communicator with an open and consultative approach. Good written and verbal communication skills which can be adapted for a range of contacts React confidently to new situations, using own initiative and available resource to complete tasks effectively The employee must also strive to support the elements of the SQCDP framework of the wider Gardner business; Safety: work in line with all accredited company safety standards in order to provide a safe working environment for all Quality: support the quality accreditations across the business to ensure the delivery of a 'right first time' performance Cost: support the continuous improvements in cost reduction activities across the company in order to deliver increased profitability and value for money to our customers and stakeholders Delivery: drive improvement in delivery performance to continually exceed customer expectations and targets People: support organisational capability and influence cultural change by embracing diversity, inclusion, wellbeing and community Measurable performance indicators/objectives of role: An annual appraisal will be held to ensure the employee and their Line Manager is happy with their performance, progress and development.
