Commercial Financial Controller City of London International Travel required About the Company: An Independent, international insurance and reinsurance Lloyds broker headquartered within the London Insurance Market. Employing more than 20 nationalities, they benefit from an exceptionally culture sensitive team. With staff fluent in over 16 languages they are able to communicate freely with global clientele. Overall Role: This role reports to the Group Finance Director and will work closely with the CEO-International. To be successful the role-holder must develop strong professional working relationships with international CEOs and CFOs as well as Group Management and Finance based in London.
• Monitoring and reporting on financial and operational performance of international operations, including the coordination of monthly management accounts and commentary.
• Working with local management to develop budgets, forecasts and manage cash flow projections/requirements.
• Supporting business development through the development of/critical appraisal of appropriate business cases for new investments. This will include the completion of due diligence and ensuring that the correct legal, tax a regulatory structures are implemented.
• Ensuring that international operations adhere to all relevant Group policies, providing guidance and support where required. Key Accountabilities/Core Competence Indicators: Financial / Strategic Planning
• Manage the annual strategy planning and budget cycle for all overseas operations in conjunction with the Group Management Accountant. Management Reporting
• In conjunction with local management provide commentary and further analysis to the Group Finance Director and CEO - International in respect of the monthly results of overseas operations.
• Review and agree the company's monthly pack with the Group Management Accountant International Business Development
• Support International Business Development activities through creation, analysis and critique of business proposals / business cases
• Perform due diligence on new business opportunities Financial Reporting
• Ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory financial reporting standards.
• Ensure that Group companies are following group accounting policies and the accounts comply with UK GAAP. Operational Management
• Work with overseas local management to understand status of compliance with local laws and regulations.
• Liaises with internal and external auditors to manage both the internal and external audits to resolve audit issues that may arise from time to time, both before and after audits. Client Money Management Information Reporting
• Ensure that UK standards of client money management are applied appropriately across international operations
• Assists in ensuring client money MI is produced for the Accountable Executive in line with instructions; produced accurately and in a timely fashion Finance IT applications
• Critically appraise the finance applications in overseas operations.
• Liaises regularly with the local Finance Director in designing, improving and reviewing the existing accounting system, accounting controls and reporting software with the aim of ensuring the overall integrity of the Client Ledgers. Finance Area
• Participates in the overall management of the Finance Department.
• Designs and improves procedures across Finance in overseas operations with the aim of increasing the transparency of the financial results, adding value to the management information and improving the efficiency of the reporting process Compliance/Corporate Governance
• Ensures high technical standards are maintained to achieve quality, minimal rework and minimal E&O exposure.
• Maintain confidentiality in systems and procedures. Key Skills and Experience:
• Qualified Accountant.
• Insurance / broking knowledge
• Previous experience in working in commercial finance position in an international business
• Strong influencing, presentational and communication skills
• Extensive working experience of UK Client Money regulations

• UK Tax/ VAT law - knowledge of overseas tax advantageous

• Advanced spreadsheet skills and knowledge/ experience of computerised accounting systems
