This role requires you to liaise with energy suppliers, meet deadlines for our clients and monitor developments and events in the energy markets that are likely to affect energy prices. You will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of all internal systems and client databases ensuring that all details are present and correct. In addition you will provide support to the business development function by tendering for new prospects and generating outputs that go into proposals. Previous experience within the energy industry and strong knowledge of Excel & VBA would be advantageous. A self-starter is required helping build, improve and maintain systems; organisational and quality focus is essential. You may be called to assist in energy projects to help further develop industry knowledge and experience. Typical Duties - Proactively assist the outbound telesales as part of the company's growth strategy Attend meetings with prospective clients Take full account management responsibility for an existing portfolio Sustained engagement with our existing clients to fully understand their energy procurement requirements Closing contracts between client and supplier. This will involve managing the customers' expectations during a tender and negotiating price with the supplier to close the deal. Identify appropriate up-selling and new business opportunities and be responsible for generating proposals and closing new deals ensuring outstanding customer relationships are maintained. Contribute to tenders and assist in closing deals within commercial parameters. Plan and organise own workload and assist in planning other team members work where necessary to meet existing client contract requirements Oversee and fully implement work already undertaken in establishing working partnerships with new suppliers to the market Take senior role in overseeing and delivering our energy and water procurement services Process and analyse client data to prepare invitations to tender and pre-qualification questionnaires Maintain customer service levels to the client service level agreements Issue and Prepare supplier price reports and analysis to clients Update clients on market/contract progress and responding to client enquiries Pro-actively track the market and ensure indicators and market intelligence are acted upon and disseminated into procurement activities and purchasing strategies where appropriate. Any other procurement duties as required by the Manager Skills Required - Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office package (especially Excel) Able to organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines and manage the expectations of project stakeholders Excellent written and verbal communication to apply to report writing and the delivery of presentations Excellent numerical reasoning and problem-solving skills High level of attention to detail Ability to work effectively as part of a team Able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines Able to organise and prioritise workloads Strong negotiator and the ability to communicate at all levels Education and Professional Qualifications (Desirable) - Degree or equivalent qualifications preferably in related discipline 3 A-levels of which one should be in an analytical subject (i.e. Maths, Science) Specific energy management or industry training Experience - Experience/knowledge of the energy/utilities industry Previous experience in a commercial/sales/client facing role Previous experience in a Procurement/Contract Management function (Desirable) Previous experience in analytical and data analysis In return we offer our employees - 28 days holiday (including bank holidays) For every year you spend working for SMS you will be rewarded with an extra full day's holiday up to a maximum of 5 Refer a friend bonus (£500) Cycle to work scheme Corporate season ticket travel Automatic enrollment into the Company Stakeholder Pension Scheme (will commence following 3 months employment) Eligibility to join the Share Incentive Plan following 6 months employment We also have you covered with Life Insurance where your next of kin will receive 4 times your annual salary
